Waiting on Wednesday, Young Adult / January 18, 2012

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!

Spellbound (Hex Hall, Book 3) by Rachel Hawkins
Spellbound (Hex Hall, Book 3) by Rachel Hawkins

Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.

Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?

There are quite a few series endings I am waiting for this year, and this is definitely high on the list, given the huge cliffhanger at the end of Book 2! I’ve come view the Hex Hall series as my baseline for humourous YA paranormal and I’m sure this final book won’t disappoint. My only pet peeve with this series is that the covers are not that pretty and really aren’t reflective of the quality of the book. Let’s hope the rerelease them with different covers eventually!

I actually really dislike the cover, but it does grab your attention. You definitely need to start it, I think reading the cliffhangers then a bit of waiting for the third book will only make it more exciting! 🙂
