Hey Guys! So, May was a great month for us here at Winged Reviews. We took part in the Bookish Bucket List Blog Hop and between us attended thee author events!
Firstly, I travelled down to London on 12th May to attend the ‘Creative Voices’ talk. There were four authors at this event talking about how they became published authors and reading from their newly released books. But the author that I particularly went to see was Kimberly Derting, author of The Body Finder series and The Pledge. Kimberly read from both of her newest releases, The Pledge and The Last Echo and also met with everyone and signed our books. I had a really great day and it was so nice to meet Kimberly.
Secondly on 31st May Cassandra Clare came to my hometown Sheffield courtesy of Waterstones. This was amazing! She read from Clockwork Princess, she answered questions from everyone in the audience and she also signed all our books. We found out some tid bits about the City of Bones movie and were given information about Cassandra’s next series The Dark Artifices! And I must say that Cassandra is a very funny lady!
I even made a bunch of friends in the queue!
I was also lucky enough to go to a Cassandra Clare signing at the Theatre Royal Stratford courtesy of Foyles. It was a two-for-one special as Maureen Johnson (author of The Name of the Star and the Little Blue Envelope series, among others) was hosting the event and also signing. There was also a cameo by Sarah Rees Brennan.
Cassie and Maureen made a great double team and I found Maureen especially hilarious. Cassie gave away some amazing book-related goodies, like bookmarks and flowers tokens to everyone who asked a question (unfortunately I didn’t get one as I was sitting way in the back), and Maureen managed to throw them
at to people with very few casualties. My favourite piece of information from the evening is that Maureen loves the character named after her in The Mortal Instruments series. There was also some chat about a possible short story about Sebastian having a cat!
Cassandra and Maureen were both so patient and signed everyone’s books. I bought some at the venue and got a cool Mortal Instruments tote bag as well (which I sent to Ali for her birthday)!
And so as part of the Bookish Bucket List Blog Hop we held a giveaway of 2 of the books we got signed. Congratulations to our two winners!
