Feature and Follow

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. The hosts ask a question each week and you create a blog post that answers the question. Then you add your link, hop to other blogs, comment and follow! It’s a win win.

This week there are two questions!!:
(1) What is the best cover of a book you read and DIDN’T like?
(2) What is the best cover of a book you read and DID like?

Daphne’s Answer

Question One – Best cover of a book I DIDN’T like?
The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke and didn’t like is a bit strong, I was more indifferent towards it. However, it does have a gorgeous cover, with beautiful typography and it conveys all the right things about the book.

Question Two – Best cover of a book I DID like?
Across the Universe by Beth Revis. Gorgeous colours, love the silhouettes of both Elder and Amy and it features the freaking universe. Just gorgeous. I’m a little sad about the new covers because even though they are great, to me they don’t convey the same sense of wonder.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Alison’s Answer

Question One – Best cover of a book I DIDN’T like?

The answer to this would be Matched by Ally Condie. I LOVE the cover of this book. Its simple but effective. The book itself however? Not so much.

Matched by Ally Condie

Question Two – Best cover of a book I DID like?

This is too difficult! There are loads! But I will go for The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. All the books in this series are gorgeous to me but this one…well come on…! It’s pink…it’s pretty…it’s sparkly…what’s not to love?!

What are your favourite covers of your best and worst reads??

I love ALL of those covers! And I totally agree with Matched. I was so intrigued by the cover but really was not a big fan of the story. Great picks :)

Phew, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who wasn't a fan of Matched. The cover is absolutely gorgeous (and one of the reasons I wanted to pick it up) but the story was too slow for me and the love triangle wasn't very believable. I put it down halfway though, but might try it again later.

Again, it's not terrible, it's just the characters didn't really click for me. I will defintely read the sequels though, as the story is getting more and more interesting.
