Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!
Origin by Jessica Khoury
Release date: 4 September 2012
Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home—and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.
Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin—a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever.
Origin is a beautifully told, shocking new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever, no matter the cost.
So many things to be excited about the debut novel Origin. First of all, it’s a standalone novel, which is so rare and refreshing in the YA world these days. Secondly, it’s such a cool and unique setting for a book in the sci-fi genre, a jungle. Thirdly, author Jessica Khoury is one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with.
Personally, I can’t wait until September where we’ll be featuring an interview with Jessica in an upcoming blog event. If you haven’t pre-ordered your book, I encourage you to do so now!
