I am extremely honoured to be part of this countdown blog tour for bestselling author Charlaine Harris and her new book Midnight Crossroad! This is the first book in the new series set in Midnight, Texas and has oodles of Harris’ signature small town charm. Be sure to check out all the stops, one on the hour, every hour today.
I absolutely fretted over what questions to ask Charlaine, because she’s probably done hundreds of interviews. So instead of asking about her book or her writing, I decided to ask Charlaine questions related to my new upcoming blog feature. It involves three short and sweet questions about bookish firsts! Hope you enjoy and don’t forget to check out Midnight Crossroad! It’s perfect for mystery lovers with a dollop of paranormal.
On her bookish firsts
What is the first book you ever read/remember reading?
Probably a Nancy Drew mystery; something about Chimneys?
What is the first book character you loved?
I loved “Jane Eyre” because the heroine was poor (we thought at first) and plain, and ruthlessly sensible in her manner and dress – but inside she was wildly romantic and passionate. Still love Jane.
What is the first book/story you wrote? (Doesn’t have to be something that was published!)
The first book I wrote was “Sweet and Deadly,” and I was lucky enough to find a publisher for it.
About Midnight Crossroad
Release: 8 May 2014
Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.
There’s a pawnshop (where someone lives in the basement and runs the store during the night). There’s a diner (although those folk who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident: Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).
If you stop at the one traffic light in town, then everything looks normal. But if you stay a while, you might learn the truth…
