Blog Tour, Guest Post, Images / June 15, 2014

I’m extremely honoured to be part of the blog tour for the final book in Leigh Bardugo’s epic Grisha series! I loved both Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm so much and I can’t believe this amazing series will be over soon! That said, I can’t wait for more Alina, Darkling, Mal and especially more Sturmhond!

As part of the blog tour, Indigo are generously giving away a set of all three books in the Grisha trilogy and an amazing, one of a kind poster of the gorgeous image below by artist Irene Koh. To find out how to enter, read on!

Alina the Saint

With Leigh Bardugo’s Thoughts

It’s hard for me to choose my favorite panel of the triptych, but I think this may be it. For me, the way Alina is framed and the stillness in her pose evoke religious iconography. But there’s also this sense of menace in the firebirds and flames that bracket her—they’re not quite as static as the previous two amplifiers in their panels.

If you notice, there’s also hardly any black in her kefta in this panel and the blue is similarly pared back. Alina is no longer under the Darkling’s sway or even a summoner of the Second Army. She is garbed in gold and has become something else entirely. This is Sankta Alina. She’s still human, but you can see the way that she has been overtaken by the symbolic. As for the white hair, I was inspired to write that change in Alina’s appearance by the cover art created by the Balbusso twins for “The Witch of Duva,” so I love seeing it brought to life here. – Leigh Bardugo

    This one!

I love how she's both fierce and peaceful and I love the colors!!

    Thank you 🙂

  2. I can't choose which is my favourite! I'm torn between this one and the Summoner. I love her blue cloak in the Summoner, but her white hair in the Saint is so cool, as is the border! Thanks for the giveaway :).

  3. Amanda says:

I love the Summoner poster, but this one is a close second!

The saint is most definitely my favorite. I think this is my favorite because she's so much stronger and finally realizes the potential she has.

  9. The saint is my favorite, I love the colors used in this one!

  10. I've not read the series yet. I did try to listen to it on audio but couldn't get into it – I think that was more because of it being something you need to listen to without being distracted. Anyway, I'd love to discover this series as I keep hearing so many amazing things about it. Thanks for the chance!

The Summoner will and always will be my favorite.

What I love about this art of Alina is the fierceness of her. It's captured so beautifully and it makes my heart do funny things because I love Alina so so much.

  13. I actually have not read this series yet… but these posters are so beautiful!! and very creative!
I think I am torn between the Solider Alina and this Saint Alina… based upon this designed posters. I like the deer (or elk?) on the border of the Solider Alina, but the dress on Saint Alina is elaborately detailed.
Thank you so much for the giveaway!

If you are talking about the posters, my favorite is the soldier image. I think maybe beause she looks a tiny bit evil in the Summoner image and a little arrogant in tjis Saint artwork. I also found Alina the mapmaker indearing.

  17. Vivien says:

    Definitely the Soldier image!

  18. Because she is brilliant and FIERCE! And just one BAMF.

  19. Stephanie T. says:

I can't possibly decide between this one and the Summoner one! She holds so much authority in both of them, I love it.

  20. Paige.D says:

Hmm…I love all of them. But I have to say I really love this one. I like how It shows her strength and overall fierceness but at the same time shows her acceptance and acknowledgment of the power she has as The Sun Summoner and as the Alina we've come to know.

  21. Mary G Loki says:

I love them all! But I think my fav would either be the soilder or the saint!

  22. Samina says:

I love the Summoner's Poster the best.
