Event Report

I met V. E. Schwab on Thursday 4th of August at Waterstones Birmingham and it was fabulous. This was my first author event and signing in 3 years so let’s just say going to author events is pretty new to me. I was so nervous before going, however my friend Christine had met her the day before and told me how lovely she was, so that helped a bit, but also made me more nervous because what do you even say when you meet an author? Well, I was about to find out what exactly would come out of my mouth when I actually was stood in front of her! read more

I was thrilled to be invited to Tiger’s Summer Splash, Little Tiger Press’ picture book event a few weeks ago. I’ve historically not been a kids book blogger, but as an newly expecting mum, I’m super happy to dive in to the world of pretty pictures and fun rhymes. Plus, my husband was thrilled for once to come with me! read more

Event Report

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Montgomery County Book Festival in late February. The Montgomery County Book Festival is currently a one day event, with hopes to become a weekend-long celebration in the future. On the day of the festival attendees listened to and spoke with over 40 authors. This year the festival included authors of children’s and tween books, young adult authors who cross over to the adult market and authors who write specifically for adults. There will be an opening keynote speaker and a closing keynote, with a special presentation during the lunch hour. Ten different panels will each repeat twice during three breakout sessions. There will be a Teen Zone where teens can go to mingle with authors, make crafts and pick up prizes and freebies. read more

Marissa Meyer just wrapped up her Fairest book tour with a stop at Barnes and Noble in The Woodlands, TX. I arrived an hour before the event was scheduled to begin and every seat was already taken. One would have thought Super Bowl Sunday would have kept people away but that was not the case. Luck was smiling up one me as I was the last person permitted to stand in the main event speaking area with a clear view of Marissa. That did not stop faithful readers from lining the adjacent book rows hoping to be able to overhear everything that was said. The wait time passed very quickly as everyone was giddy with excitement at seeing, hearing and spending with with the famed author. read more

What a night on Saturday! It was the first inaugural UKYA Blogger Awards, organised by author Andy Robb and with the support of the wonderful publishing community to recognise bloggers. Us! It’s so exciting and such a great honour!

The event was held at the lovely Waterstones on High Street Kensington. We all gathered together in the basement and after a few drinks and a lot of lovely hellos and hugs from authors, publishers and other bloggers, the excitement started. read more
