This time next week I will be in New York celebrating the 4th of July celebrations – quite a funny fact, considering it is a day to celebrate Independence from Great Britain, and that is where I am coming from! Regardless, I’m looking forward to the fireworks and getting to experience the celebrations myself! This is my first time going to New York, and it has been on my bucket list of places to go for as long as I can remember so to celebrate the fact that I’m finally going there (hooray!), I’ve compiled a short list of books that I’ve read or want to read that are either set in New York or feature New York!

The first books I ever remember being read to me were the Amelia Bedelia books – did you have those in the UK? The first book I remember reading to myself, which is still one of my all-time favourites, is “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.
