She is the most powerful Jinni of all. He is a boy from the streets. Their love will shake the world...

When Aladdin discovers Zahra's jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn't seen in hundreds of years—a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra's very existence is illegal. She must disguise herself to stay alive, using ancient shape-shifting magic, until her new master has selected his three wishes.

But when the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity—only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart?

As time unravels and her enemies close in, Zahra finds herself suspended between danger and desire in this dazzling retelling of Aladdin from acclaimed author Jessica Khoury.

“You’re a -you’re a -“

Say it boy. Demon of fire. Monster of smoke. Devil of sand and ash. Servant of Nardukha, Daughter of Ambadya, The Nameless, The Faceless, The Limitless. Slave of the Lamp. Jinni.

“… a girl!”

In this Aladdin retelling, the focus is not Aladdin himself but Zhara, a several thousands year-old jinni whom history does not remember kindly. Zhara’s past affection for humans did not play out well and the narrative moves back and forth in time to relate the story of her friendship with a long-dead queen and her current struggle as old themes resurface in new forms. She is intelligent, lonely, and loving. read more

She can be anyone you want her to be.
Vivian was raised with one purpose in life: to exact revenge on behalf of her mother. Manipulative and cruel, Mother has deprived Vivian not only of a childhood, but of an original identity. With an endless arsenal of enticing personalities at her disposal, Vivian is a veritable weapon of deception.

And she can destroy anyone.
When it’s time to strike, she enrolls in a boarding school on the English moors, where she will zero in on her target: sweet and innocent Ben, the son of the man who broke Mother’s heart twenty years ago.

Anyone…except for the woman who created her.
With every secret she uncovers, Vivian comes one step closer to learning who she really is. But the more she learns about herself, the more dangerous this cat and mouse game becomes. Because Mother will stop at nothing to make sure the truth dies with her.

In I Am Her Revenge, Vivian is our heroine that has been honed into a killing machine by her mother, a woman wronged. The reader learns pretty early on that Vivian has been brainwashed and trained by her mother to enact a revenge that the mother has lived with all her life. Nobody expected Dru Anderson to survive this long. Not Graves. Not Christophe. Not even Dru. She’s battled killer zombies, jealous djamphirs, and bloodthirsty suckers straight out of her worst nightmares. But now that Dru has bloomed into a fullfledged svetocha—rare, beautiful, and toxic to all vampires—the worst is yet to come. Because getting out alive is going to cost more than she’s ever imagined. And in the end, is survival really worth the sacrifice?

Dru Anderson’s not afraid of the dark.

But she should be.

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS FROM BOOKS 1 TO 4

Firstly can I just say how much I like this series. For YA, it’s really different. There’s nothing held back and I think it’s actually very, very close to becoming adult sometimes. There are wulfen and vampires and half vampires and super strength female half vampires and magic and the odd zombie and it’s just one whirlwind adventure after the next. read more

Now that sixteen-year-old Dru's worst fears have come true and Sergej has kidnapped her best friend Graves, she'll have to go on a suicidal rescue mission to bring him back in one piece.

That is, if she can put all of Christophe's training to good use, defeat her mother's traitor, Anna, once and for all, and manage to survive another day...

WARNING: SPOILERS FROM BOOK 3

And I thought this series couldn’t get any better! Man was I wrong. This is now my new favourite. There’s more action (especially from Dru), suspense and more twists and turns than ever with the most explosive ending yet!

At the end of Jealousy, Dru was nearly killed by Anna (the other Svetocha) and subsequently found out that Sergej had captured her best friend (and kind of love interest) Graves and was planning to make him into a ‘broken’–like Ash. read more

Dru Anderson might finally be safe. She’s at the largest Schola on the continent, and beginning to learn what it means to be svetocha—half vampire, half human, and all deadly. If she survives her training, she will be able to take her place in the Order, holding back the vampires and protecting the oblivious normal people.

But a web of lies and betrayals is still closing around her, just when she thinks she can relax a little. Her mentor Christophe is missing, her almost-boyfriend is acting weird, and the bodyguards she’s been assigned seem to know much more than they should. And then there’s the vampire attacks, the strange nightly visits, and the looks everyone keeps giving her. As if she should know something.

Or as if she’s in danger.

Someone high up in the Order is a traitor. They want Dru dead—but first, they want to know what she remembers of the night her mother died. Dru doesn’t want to remember, but it looks like she might have to—especially since once Christophe returns, he’ll be on trial for his life, and the only person who can save him is Dru.

The problem is, once she remembers everything, she may not want to...

Jealousy is the third book in the Strange Angels series. And I just loved it! It has all the amazing action of the first book, a lot of questions are answered (thank goodness – I hate it when I don’t know what’s going on!) and there is finally some romance – but I shall not spoil as to whom the romance is with! read more
