Giveaway, Trailer Reveal / July 8, 2013

I am beyond delighted to partner with publishers Gollancz to launch the trailers for the out of this world TERRA. As we have not one, but two exciting trailers for this book, this is part one of the launch, and part two will be up on Wednesday.

This sci-fi debut is about a young girl rescued from a car crash as a baby, raised on an alien planet and is about to go to school for the very first time. The story is charming, hilarious and heart-warming–a fable that will leave you smiling long after you’ve turned the last page. If you’ve ever felt a little alien sometimes, I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to Terra.

Creating this book was an interesting story in itself! Debut author Mitch Benn, who you may know as the musical comedian often found on BBC Radio 4’s the Now Show airwaves, had a short but sweet Twitter conversation with Gollancz editor Simon Spanton, and as they say the rest is history.

The first trailer we are debuting features chapter one of the book, as read by many of Mitch’s celebrity friends. Enjoy and let us know what you think in the comments below!

About TERRA

Terra by Mitch Benn

Publication date: 18 July 2013
Publisher: Gollancz
Goodreads | Amazon UK | The Book Depository

Terra is delightful. I found myself thinking of Roald Dahl, Douglas Adams & Terry Pratchett but the voice and story are uniquely Mitch Benn’s. Wise, funny and above all, human. – Neil Gaiman

Ever felt like an outsider?

Terra is about to go to school for the first time. She’s never felt more alone. The school is out of this world and Terra is a pupil like no other.

Alien? Human? Depends on your perspective.

But…

Terra is about to change a world.

About the Author

Mitch Benn found fame as the singer of spectacularly angry, clever and funny songs on the Now Show. He used to be a big, angry, clever and funny man. Now he is just angry, clever and funny. He tours regularly and is in pretty much permanent residence with his band at the Phoenix theatre in Bloomsbury. He is married and has two daughters. He also has over 30,000 followers on Twitter.

  9. Well that is going to make it harder to choose who does the audiobook version… but it should be Mitch himself.

  10. Nicola Gregory says:

Bought the Audio book, narrated by Mitch Benn himself (with a cameo from whom I'm guessing is his daughter?)
It's a fantastic story – but I must confess to getting a little lost with some of the character names. I initially read the kindle sample and wondered how well it would translate to audio, given that a significant portion of the book takes place where there are apparently no vowels, but since he wrote it, Mitch Benn obviously knows how to pronounce it!
I'm now eagerly awaiting the sequel, which, while I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the first one, I may settle for simply reading. Bravo Mitch!
